Conifer trees

Posted by Kekso on 21 Mar 2013, 11:02

I did some experimenting with wire, fibers and colored sawdust. Result are not so bad conifer trees.
I didn't made any tutorial because you can find plenty of it on Youtube. So I'll post some pictures
here (not in Tutorial section). But if you got some questions I'll be happy to answer if I can.

They look good, and your knight too!   But here he looks almost likes he's on skates. :-D Haven't seen it in this pose before and I have a couple of him: :-D

Thanks Gunnar. Knight is here just for size comparison. I started to paint this knight 2 years ago and never finished.
And probably never will finish him.
He's from Italeri's set 6009 The Knights http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=196

Yeah, I mixed sawdust with some green color. I put some water-white glue mixture on fibers and sprinkle colored sawdust on it.

Hi Kesko,
your trees are looking very good!
Ah, coloured sawdust - that is what company BUSCH sells as "Scatter material". I put it on a raw model for a bamboo tree...now I have got a sort of conifer-bamboo

Wow! amazing results! I was searching the other day a way to make grass and trees with home materials, and couldn't find anything suitable. Using coloured sawdust seems a very good idea. I'll have to try it.
