Meeting Bielefeld

Posted by Benno on 19 Nov 2007, 01:00

Last Saturday (on the right date!) me and my dad visited a meeting of German collectors/hobbyists in the beautiful town of Bielefeld, Germany. I had the pleasure to meet some new faces: Bernhard Schehr, Holger Schneider, Peter Arlt, Thomas Freimuth, Thorsten Burgdorf, Frank Wilhelm and Jürger Friese. Niels Rullköter and Thomas Mischak were there too, but the week before. Unfortunately I missed a few because we were a bit late.

Thorsten Burgdorf brought a few of his scenery stuff (and moulds) with him which he makes himself. No pictures were taken of it, but you can see pictures of what he has built on the website of Art Miniaturen where you can order his fantastic scenery.

Peter Arlt brought these two fantastic dioramas with him. One of Little Big Horn and one of Braddock's defeat at Monongahela. The pictures of Braddock's defeat turned out to be of very low quality so I only included one, a shame because it is a very good diorama. The pictures of Little Big Horn speak for themselves. ;-)

Niels Rullkötter brought a large amount of painted artillery figures with him. He made a lot of conversions with Zvezda's French foot artillery as you can see in the next few pictures. Ain't they pretty? ;-)

Holger Schneider & Thomas Freimuth (and someone else of who I can't recall his name  ) made a great diorama together called 'On the Road to Borodino'. Great painting.

It was a fantastic afternoon in Bielefeld, with a lot of very nice fellow collectors, painted figures and dioramas. I hope the pictures gave you a good impression.

We'll try to organize a next meeting (April/May 2008) here in Almelo. ;-)

That must be the man. They mentioned the name of the man in black, but I'm very bad in remembering names... :oldman:

Hi
I remember the name of Pierre because I read that book during the 12 hours long birth (the delivery) of my first son!.... and later I watch the film (with Audrey Hepburn, Mel Ferrer, Henry Gonda...) several times...

12 hours?!
Then you've finished the book quite fast, haha.

Never seen this film before.. but I'll sure do one day. Which version is better? The western or the russian one?

Hi, I read it "diagonally" because my mind was not in the book :-D
I only have seen the western version. See the thread about the film in the HAT forum where the versions are compared

Hi to all,

well, I'm the 'someone else of who I can't recall his name'. Yes indeed the figure should be Pierre from the 'Krieg und Frieden' movie.

Regards,
:headbang:

Oops sorry Klaus.

I'm terrible in remembering names. You really made a fantastic diorama with Holger and Thomas. Welcome to the forum btw. ;-)

Thanks Benno,
me too. To remember names I need a lot of time. It was very sad to miss the meeting in Bielefeld. I have been there some times ago. But in the moment i'm going to move from Hannover to Frankfurt and there are a lot of things to do.

Regards,
Klaus

Klaus
A diorama depicitng the visit of Peter to the Great Redoubt of the battle of Borodino would be also striking!

Wonderful meeting!

This year I'll spend the Christmas vacation in Germany. Would there be any more meetings at that time?

@rpardo
I don't think so. I enjoied to build this diorama with Holger and Thomas, but my favorite period are the ancient world. Especially the late roman time. And I have a lot do ....

But you can ask Holger. He is still working on an other diorama of Borodino.

It's still in work. Perhaps I post some pictures at the "work in progress" thread.
