These pictures are wonderfull indeed

But if this shows the Battle of Waterloo (and it is), there is one great mistake on one of the horses of this diorama. Wellington is riding on a white horse, and that's not true. He was riding on Kopenhagen, a brown horse (look at my avatar ;-) )! Just a minor detail on a great bunch of painted figures

I find it not in the least bit humorous ;-) ;- :-) :-) :joker:
Maybe it´s a very obvious way of saying that doctors and surgeons are there to "lend a Hand".
Or it´s how they prevented the clap in those days.
Or it´s the doc trying to keep his hand in
As to why it´s there, I´m stumped
I wonder if the wounded had to pay a handling fee ?
The operation must have left them feeling saw
There´s something not right but I can´t put my finger on it :-)

Sorry, I´ll stop now

It´s the victorian version of the "Hokey Cokey" " you put your left hand in and don´t take your left hand out, in shout, out shout and don´t wave it all about" All together now...... :-)
Or the doc is looking for handouts
Or someone noticed someone else stealing and shouted "HANDS OFF!!"

Thanks, but I wasn´t looking for a hand out ;-) :-)

Or whilst playing cards, they found out that some of them were holding bad hands
Or it´s metaphorical refusal to accept the digital age
Or......... :-)
