KNIL - Royal Netherlands East Indies Army
I'm trying to have an idea of the look of such troops, but the web is not so generous as i hoped...

When it comes to the Padri War (1821-1845) or the the Java War (1825-1830), i suppose one can use Waterloo Dutch vs Alexander's Indian army (!?) plus Dervishes (maybe even Mamelukes?).

For the Aceh War (1873-1904) British colonials in blue (?) could fit.

But when it comes to the two Dutch Interventions in Bali (1906-1908) it's hard... maybe German East Asia Brigade? WWI ANZAC? Australian Light Brigade? did the wear the bandoliers? which color were the uniforms? (all the pictures are in black & white).

Thanks :-D

Thank you Zed1, very useful. Ok for the colonial age (pit helmets), but i'm still looking to get the full picture.

Hi Giorgo,

If you visit the website Memory of the Netherlands (http://www.geheugenvannederland.nl/?/en/homepage) and fill in in the searchbox 'knil uniform' you get 55 images of a variety of different KNIL uniforms from Napoleonic time until the beginning of the 20th century. I am sure that is useful to you.
