Questions

What are these figures?

Posted by Mabbers on 10 May 2014, 21:43

I picked up a load of 1/32 figures from a charity sale today and am hoping someone can help me identify them.

First up this one which was obviously a Kellogs give-away and looks a bit like Prince Valiant but is defying my internet research.

The last two I think are Call to Arms, but not sure.

They were ten pence each!

Revell AWI British soldiers are the first four grey figures.

Edit: all six of them in the second picture.

Hi Mabbers,I collect 1950`s and early 1960`s plastic figures of all kinds, and the one you have there was made by the Creasent Toy Company in that period. Kellogs insisted that the creasent name not be placed on all those figures. The bottom figures you are right A Call to Arms. You have a Confederate charging and a Union Officer. See them on Plastic Soldier Review .I`m checking up on the others too. BB

Thanks guys, BB you sent me in the right direction. According to this http://www.die-cast-toys.com/plastic-soldiers/crescent/Crescent.html the figure is 'Prince Swinging sword' so a Prince Valiant rip-off ;-)

Mabbers the middle section are British Infantry by the Accurate Company and they produced them first in 1/32 scale for the American War of Independence Series. Then later down sized them to 1/72 scale .These can also be found on the Plastic Soldier Review Site. They are easy to identify by looking for the Officer first because of the way he is holding his sword. All your figures that you have acquired are in my own Toy Museum.10 p each, A bargain! You enjoy having them. BB

Yes toms, I agree they could be remoulds of the old A Call To Arms Model`s. That is why they use the name Replicants. They obtained the rights to do so under Licence from the A Call to Arms Company that still own the Copyrights to this day. Very much the same as Dapol did when they acquired the early Airfix Moulds. In my opinion they well earn their place in any private collection. I was mistaken early on ,the Officer is a Confederate. these figures were done by replicants, then the moulds passed to marxmen.marxmen shrunk the figures down to 1/72.these 1/72 moulds passed on to acta.replicants have the 1/32 moulds back and are reissuing them.
a long and winding road indeed.
