What scale, what period?

1 72 scale, Napoleonic period...It need only to be spiked pikes putted in pit...

I suppose, if they were to be 3D, ie; built into the Terrain they would look a bit like this;

or a variant like These


I´d make them by cutting a hole in some polystyrene, and adding sone Pins in the bottom.
or, without making deep holes with actual Spikes, you could represent them like this (Roman "lilias" on the Antonine wall)

Here are very cheap spikes! I`ve just stuck them in Blue Tack,and added some figures that are part way finished. hope this helps you..........
