Pocket or not?

Posted by MABO on 10 Nov 2013, 20:12

While painting the HäT Figures of the 1/32 range as you can see here:
http://www.bennosfiguresforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=129&t=14885 I was wondering, if the pocket on his belt is really a pocket on his belt or not. I have painted it black. But now I am not quite sure if this is right or not? Does any Nappi Lover has an idea? I have not found any reference to this...

Hi Mabo, I don't think it's a pocket, I think that the top thick line is actually meant to be the piping at the bottom of his jacket, the bottom thick line is meant to be the belt and the bit in between is actually part of his trousers, that's my opinion, hope it makes sense.

Well - this is quite strange. I would say it's simply bad modelling of someone who got all the details wrong - it's neither a sash (because of the rank) nor is it a correctly modelled belt. If it was a belt, it should have the buckle on front or alternatively be worn under the codpiece. If it were a vest/jacket/trouser combination of any sort, theres' no combination that would fit to any of the standard regulationary uniforms I know about.

If this is not a modelling mistake, I'd like to get the answer or historical picture documenting this strange detail.

I agree with blucher1815,that it is part of the trousers.I also agree with Zeb1,that it is a sculptors mistake and therefore very bad modelling indeed. Italeri set No 6066 1/72 scale shows an Officer wearing the right type of example of trousers worn on the box,and this is what your model should look like.I remember painting quite a lot of these models. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the replies!

Maybe it should look like this??

I have decided to repaint it in blue as well and look at it like a part of the trousers. :withstupid:
What do you think??
