Lance question

Posted by doowopapocalypse on 07 May 2013, 16:03

I recently picked up a box of Strelets WW1 Uhlans, and really rather like them, except the lances. As these are my first dip into 1/72, I didn't know if you would have any suggestions on swapping them for something a little more rigid.

Hello,

you can use the plastic bristles (correct term??) of a broom as a Lance. Use a lighter to heat a knife and flatten it on one side. After that use the knife to make a pike.

Here you see some pics...

Some hobby shops sell solid brass wire which is good, piano wire if you can find it is good as well

If piano wire works then some guitar strings also could work.

I followed this suggestion for my Polish Lancers and it works great. Works well for flag poles, too.

Florist Wire... How does it come when purchased? Is it rolled or in straight lengths?

Straight lengths. You get a bundle of 80 pieces all 20 cms Long and either with a green coating, black coating or just bare metal, the last being the best as it takes paint better. Best place to find it is an arts and crafts shop.
