New airbrush... Now what?

Posted by Cortmeister on 16 Sep 2012, 01:14

Hi everyone,
I have today received my first airbrush!!!
It's a cheapie, the Master G23 Dual Action Gravity feed. It also came with a small 1/5 HP compressor. My questions are these:
1. Can I use my tamiya and vallejo acrylic paints?
2. If so, what I can use to thin them? Regular thinner, Windex?
3. What do I use to clean it exactly?

Any other quick tips are very much appreciated. I will be checking some of the tutorials on the forum as well.

I also recently bought a cheap airbrush, made in Tailand. I haven't used it yet but made a research. All I can say based on that research is this: Windex contains amoniac. Spraying amoniac is very dangerous for your health. You can use it to clean the airbrush by spraying out into a cleaner pot.

1: yes you can
2: use for tamiya paint ONLY tamiya thinners!! for Vallejo you can use tap water or distilled water.

Hi guys thx for the tips, Ender have you used your new airbrush yet? I admit I am a little intimidated... I am putting together a few models, might try mine in a few weeks.
Thx for the links Mickey, very useful and I am amazed that I can thin vallejo paints with tap water! Who knew?

Cheers
